George F. Armes
Born in Louisville, KY, George graduated from DuPont Manual High School and moved to Houston, Texas, where he attended Rice University, receiving a BSEE in 1956. After serving four years in the Navy, he worked at General Electric in Danville, IL, and then joined the Marketing Department of Ampex Corporation, Redwood City.
While at Ampex he worked closely with all aspects of precision magnetic recording including Professional Audio mastering, Computer, and Instrumentation recording of Satellite telemetry. After 32 years, he retired from Ampex in 1995 as Vice President, Instrumentation.
He and wife Betty have three children and seven grandchildren, and they now live in San Jose , CA. They divide their time between visiting their children and cruising the world. Recently returning from a cruise to Russia, Japan, and China, George occupies his spare time with writing accounts of his travels, and planning future travels. He designed and built an award winning Koi pond in his San Jose home.
In addition to publishing numerous technical articles, he collaborated with his sister, Lois Armes Lawrence, in writing a family history, A Flood of Memories.
